Chromium and Warfarin
By: Alere Staff
According to the National Institutes of Health, chromium is an essential mineral that must be obtained from the diet. Chromium like vitamin K is measured in very small amounts called micrograms. Chromium is found in meats and vegetables in trace amounts.
No clinical trial or observational trials have been conducted with chromium and warfarin.
It is unclear what effect chromium has on INR test results for patients taking warfarin. Chromium in dietary supplement form is loosely regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. As always, consult with your doctor before taking any dietary supplement, including chromium.
