Am I a good candidate for home monitoring?
It is important to be interested and committed to participate in home monitoring. If you can answer yes to most of the questions below, it’s likely you are a good candidate and you should discuss the option of testing your INR at home with your doctor.
Home INR Monitoring Checklist
|Do you take warfarin or a brand of warfarin such as Coumadin®, and plan to take it long term (90 days or more)? Do you prefer the benefits of warfarin therapy over other anticoagulation medication?|

|3.||Are you good at following your doctor’s orders and prescription instructions?|
|4.||Do you live far from the lab or your doctor’s office?|
|5.||Do you have a busy schedule that makes it difficult to attend appointments?|
|6.||Are you physically capable of performing a test by taking a fingerstick blood sample, or do you have a caregiver that could assist you?|
|7.||Do you dislike or have difficulty providing a blood sample from a vein?|
