DESCRIPTION

Arrhythmia-free survival rates at 12 months were similar in patients with persistent atrial fibrillation (AF) undergoing pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) alone and those undergoing stepwise additional ablations. More extensive ablation was associated with longer procedure duration, fluoroscopy time and radiofrequency exposure without better rhythm control outcomes.
