DESCRIPTION

The use of protamine following carotid endarterectomy (CEA) is associated with fewer bleeding complications, without an increase in major thrombotic outcomes, including stroke, myocardial infarction or death, according to a meta-analysis. Protamine use was associated with a significant decrease in major bleeding complications requiring additional surgery.
